The emphasis on key areas—carbon reduction, water security, and circularity across all BU’s is a means for aligning operations with the broader global sustainability goals. We are contributing in accelerating the decarbonization journey and in parallel working on numerous initiatives to further reduce our carbon footprint, whether through improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions from manufacturing, or enhancing the sustainability of our supply chains.
Sustainable Supply Chain is an integral process for working towards holistic sustainability and inclusion of external stakeholders for achieving decarbonization commitments. It is a crucial perspective for us to understand the risks and opportunities we have in the present and long term. Sustainability along the supply chain is a process that is not just limited to Assessment but extends beyond capturing geographical and commodity-specific risks.
Suzlon is working towards Responsible Sourcing Principles aligned with its Supplier Code of Conduct and Sustainable Sourcing Policy. The risk severity mapping helps in effective decision-making for high-risk suppliers and in ensuring traceability of raw materials and alignment towards sustainable sourcing principles. Also, the inclusion of Circularity and low product carbon footprint as per the Sustainable Sourcing Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct acts as a key in enabling the selection of a preferential supplier. During FY 23-24 itself; 89.5% (180 Nos.) of Class A suppliers, including new suppliers onboarded during the year, were assessed for ESG alignment according to procedures, affirming Suzlon’s commitments. The suppliers as a part of Suzlon’s requirements commit to upholding principles related to human rights, labor conditions, environmental protection, and anti-corruption efforts. In line with India's pledge to reach Net Zero emissions by 2070, Suzlon is working closely with its value chain partners to accelerate the decarbonization journey
The traceability of raw materials and alignment towards sustainable sourcing principles; inclusion of Circularity and low product carbon footprint as per Sustainable Sourcing Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct acts as a key and in enabling selection of vendors aligned to Sustainable sourcing requirements.
Suzlon’s sustainability vision embraces the concept of a circular economy, focusing on reducing waste, recycling materials, and ensuring that resources are used more efficiently throughout the lifecycle of their products, particularly wind turbines. Suzlon believes collaboration is the key to achieving decarbonization and circularity goals. In line with this vision, Suzlon has joined India Green Steel Coalition (IGSC) driven by the Confederation of Indian Industries and WWF as a proactive customer for creating demand for low-carbon steel from the buyer’s side aligned to Responsible Sourcing Principles. IGSC along with Govt. is working towards sustained reduction in emissions intensity of the sector and Steel sector decarbonization.
