Our 'Ten Principles in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption' provide a common ethical and practical framework for Corporate Responsibility and the 17 'Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)' adopted in September 2015, by all 195 Member States of the United Nations including India.
At present, the Indian Network has a Pan-India membership of over 500 Leading Business and Non-Business Partners.
UN Global Compact is a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General and is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and to act in support of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). H.E. António Guterres, UN Secretary General launched ‘Forward Faster’ on September 15, 2023, a strategic initiative by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) aimed at expediting advancements in sustainable development. There are five key areas in which businesses can focus and accelerate action and progress towards Agenda 2030.
The theme “Forward Faster 2030” revolves around those most crucial thematic areas which are seen to have a long-lasting impact on the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals such as Climate Action, Water Resilience, Finance and Investment, Living Wage and Gender Equality. In India, the local network is actively working towards contextualizing these goals in harmony with Indian national priorities to contribute significantly to the realization of this Agenda at the National scale.
The themes would be aligned with the Forward Faster Initiative's key themes: Water Resilience, Climate Action, SDG Aligned Finance and Investment, Living wage and Gender Equality. In addition to this two categories are added, Biodiversity Excellence and Sustainable Supply Chain. Each Award Category would be further bifurcated into Mega, Large, Medium, Small and Micro enterprises. Under each award category 5 awards will be given.
