7th Gender Equality Summit (GES)

The 7th Gender Equality Summit achieved remarkable success, featuring panels on empowering women, leveraging female entrepreneurship, and challenging Gender Norms. It catalyzed dialogue and commitment to advancing Gender Equality across sectors, offering insightful perspectives on ground realities and corporate practices.

The Spotlight session at the 7th GES, moderated by Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Vice President-Northern Region, UN Global Compact Network India and Co-Founder & Chairperson Sustainability, ReNew put emphasis on the indispensable role and impact on SDG5 when WomenLead.

In her conversation with speakers Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairperson, SANGEET NATAK AKADEMI; Isabelle Tschan, Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP in India; and Shelley Zalis, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, The Female Quotient, they shared about their extraordinary journeys and emphasized the significance of Representation across sectors and at all levels, crucial role of allyship and language in Women Empowerment.

In the first plenary session on “Women At The Helm: Driving Corporate Success” moderated by Deepak Arora President – Public Affairs, Nayara Energy Limited and eminent panelists included Kruti Raiyani, Partner, She Capital (SC); Dr. Shikha Nehru Sharma, Founder, Nutriwel Health (India) Pvt. Ltd. ; Supriya Paul, Co- Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Josh Talks and Varsha Anand Head of Employee Communications, Wipro. The discussion underscored the urgent need for bridging the GenderedDigitalDivide and the need for more WomeninSTEM. The session discussed in detail good practices and innovations championed for and by women to accelerate InclusionForAll.

The second panel discussion on “Breaking Barriers: Technology, Innovation, And Inclusion For A Gender Equal Future” moderated by Parul Soni, Founder and Global Managing Partner, Think through Consulting and distinguished panelists included Navdeep Singh Mehram Vice President – CSR & Sustainability, DIAGEO India; Rachana Panda, Vice President & Country Group Head, Communication, Public Affairs, Sustainability & CSR- South Asia, Bayer; Ruchi Khemka, Head- Corporate Social Responsibility, Deutsche Bank ; Sangeeta Robinson, Chief Sustainability Officer, PVR INOX Limited ; Shivani Maudgal Datta, Vice President ESG & Compliance, Bharti Airtel Limited. (Airtel Enterprise Services). emphasized pivotal role played by collaboration and commitment from relevant stakeholders to a gender-equal future to close the gender gap. The session highlighted notable corporate efforts in accelerating SDG5 and successfully implementing practices that foster Gender Inclusion.

The third panel on “Equality In Action: Charting Gender-Responsive Strategies On Climate Change” dedicated to addressing the role of Gender Equality as a driver to achieve climate adaptation goals as targeted for 2030. The discussions were facilitated by Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India and esteemed panelists included Juhi Gupta, Sustainability Director- South Asia Markets, Tetra Pak India Pvt. Ltd.  and Chaitanya Kanuri, Associate Director- Sustainable Cities and Transport Team, WRI India. The discussion highlighted women are disproportionately impacted by ClimateChange and there’s a need to bring more women forward to work on climate mitigation strategy.
