Annual Local Network Forum (ALNF) meeting concluded in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The 12th Annual Local Networks Forum (ALNF) and the System Private Sector Focal Points (PSFP) Meeting was convened between 9th and 13th June 2014. Held in Addis Ababa, the ALNF set the stage for future growth of the Global Compact in countries around the world – as a way to foster a bottom-up approach to sustainable development – by enhancing governance measures, and presenting new tools and guidelines to build the capacity of Local Networks in their daily operations.
GCNI was represented by Dr. Uddesh Kohli, Senior Adviser, UNGC and Mr. Pooran Chandra Pandey, Executive Director, GCNI. Dr. Kohli spoke during the panel discussion titled “Philanthropy, Impact Investing and Partnerships in Support of Effective Social Investment” on 10th June 2014. The session focussed on complementarities and links between philanthropy and corporate action on sustainability. Dr. Kohli highlighted how partnerships promoting coordinated social investment by business and philanthropy can be designed to make scalable and systemic contributions to some of the most pressing sustainable development challenges.
Dr. Kohli also briefed the audience about some of the major initiatives taken up by GCNI during the past one year which includes India Collaboration Lab, Partnership Clinic, India Sustainability Dialogue etc.
