Counting What Matters: Unlocking Gender Data in ESG & Policy
Despite significant strides in workplace diversity, women’s representation in leadership remains staggeringly low across industries. As India positions itself for a future of unparalleled economic growth and global influence, gender equity is no longer just a moral issue—it’s a fundamental business and strategic imperative. The future demands women leading from the front, whether in boardrooms, innovation labs, factories, diplomatic corps, or public offices.
To catalyze this transformation, the UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) is launching the “Women at the Helm” global webinar dialogue series. This initiative is designed to illuminate pathways to women’s leadership, spark corporate transformation, and forge powerful cross-sector coalitions that will drive meaningful change.
Purpose of the Series:
  • Build Sector-Specific Intelligence: Provide a platform for global-local insights on advancing women’s leadership, tailored to the specific needs of India.
  • Foster Dialogue Across Stakeholders: Connect embassies, corporates, academia, civil society, and public sector leaders to exchange ideas and drive collective action.
  • Offer Practical Roadmaps: Share actionable case studies, policy frameworks, and leadership programs that corporates and institutions can integrate into their strategies for DEI and ESG transformation.
  • Amplify Women’s Voices: Spotlight women changemakers, especially those from underrepresented or transitional backgrounds—mid-career returnees, P&L leaders, entrepreneurs, and grassroots innovators.
Core Objectives:
  • Inspire Bold Action: Share powerful leadership stories, disruptive ideas, and cross-cultural insights to ignite ambition and accelerate change.
  • Inform Strategic Action: Provide evidence-backed insights, practical policy levers, and corporate best practices to equip organizations with the tools to drive gender equity.
  • Enable Collaborative Solutions: Create spaces for partnerships among embassies, companies, and academic institutions, fostering collaboration for systemic change.
  • Align with Global Goals: Drive progress on Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work (SDG 8), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10) under the UN 2030 Agenda.
This series is not just about discussion—it’s about action. It’s about accelerating women’s leadership to power India’s growth and innovation, and it’s about building a future where women don’t just participate in the economy—they lead it.
