GCNI in collaboration with Udgam Charitable Trust and Inosculation Hub concluded National Convention on Corporate Social Responsibility held on 9th -10th February, 2017 in New Delhi

Global Compact Network India in collaboration with Udgam Charitable Trust and Inosculation Hub organised two days National Convention on Corporate Social Responsibility on 9th -10th February, 2017 in New Delhi. The Convention was attended by more than 400 people representing NGOs, Civil Society Organisations, Corporates, SMEs, PSUs, Ministry and Private Institutions.

The first day of the program started with a welcome note delivered by Dr. Mayur Joshi, Managing Trustee, Udgam Charitable Trust followed by lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest Shri Ramdas Athwale, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI, accompanied by other guests, moderators and speakers.

Shri Ramdas Athwale, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI, addressed that this Convention is a platform where corporate and civil society organizations as well as Govt can share their initiatives, proposed plan and the possibilities of collaboration and partnership. He encouraged both the corporate and civil society organizations to develop an action plan which can benefit many underprivileged and economic weaker sections of the society under CSR policy and programmes. He also assured all the possible support and guidance from his Ministry to strengthen collaboration between Corporate, Govt and civil society organizations for the welfare of economic and socially weaker sections of the society.

Two days of the convention was divided into different session and themes that addressed different issues of development sector and the role of CSR within it. Some of the session themes were Mandatory CSR Era, Health and sanitation for wellness, CSR Linkages & Sports for Wellbeing, Education & Gender – Necessary Mean for Nation’s Progress, Skill Creation for Employability, Employment & Nation’s Progress, Wealth with Environment – CSR Supporting Healthy Environment for all.
Justice Satish Chandra, President – CESTAT in his concluding remarks stated that CSR activities are for the welfare of the society. Also, he wished that events like National Convention on CSR would encourage corporate players to become more committed towards social responsibility.

At last, Dr. Uddesh Kohli, Senior Advisor, UNGC, New York, thanked the participants and sponsors associated with the program, and wished such programs will continue to take place in future which will be enlightening and beneficial for the society.
