Global Compact Network India Successfully Concluded its 11th National Convention

Global Compact Network India hosted its 11th National Convention on 12th March 2016 at ITC Maratha, Mumbai on the theme Sustainable Development Goals – Broadening the horizon for India’s growth and transformation”. The convention was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri. Prakash Javedkar, Minister of state (Independent Charge) Environment, Forest and Climate Change, where he listed out 175 GW renewable energy program covering Solar energy, Wind energy, Hydro power, Nuclear energy and other proactive measures to discourage the use of fossil fuels to reduce carbon footprint as major step in promoting environment friendly development. The 11th national convention also witnessed the launch of Point of View document (POV) on Sustainable Development, a unique project on Sustainable Development Goals which demonstrates the critical need to drive sustainable growth and transformation of India during 2015 – 2030.

The event had High Level Business panel discussion on Sustainable Development Goals with 6 leading companies CEO’s followed by three round of panel discussion on Green Transformation, Community Welfare and Growth and prosperity.  The event saw participation of more than 350 prominent delegates from academia, business and NGOs.
