Global Compact Network India has been selected by United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) to be a part of a 5 nation Assessment Survey of UNGC. Besides India Local Network, Local Networks in Spain, Nigeria, Argentina and Egypt are also a part of this global assessment initiative.
The objective of the assessment is to document the change that has been generated by the Global Compact in the past 15 years, and to provide recommendations for pathways to transformation towards the vision for the next 15 years. This assessment exercise is significant as it is being undertaken at the time when new set of global sustainable development goals are underway with Secretary General’s synthesis report identifying 17 goals and 169 targets made public recently.
UNGC and DNV GL have embarked on a journey in partnership with Global Compact Network India to assess transformation towards the Global Compact’s vision of a sustainable and inclusive global economy including impact assessment of the two objectives of mainstreaming the ‘Ten Principles in business practices everywhere and catalysing action in support of broader goals’.
Members of the India Local Network are now being interviewed for their comments and advice, summary of which will find its place in a document to be prepared and launched in June 2015 during the Annual Local Network Forum of UNGC in New York being attended by over 80 Local Networks and 100’s of CEOs from businesses and civil society.
This is yet another recognition for India Local Network to be identified for its leadership role, deep engagement with its membership and its continuing commitment to advance Ten Universal Principles of the UNGC providing more robustness to the existing eco-system in which key stakeholders may conjoin their efforts to re-shape and re-imagine future ‘with no one left behind’.
