IEEE Delhi SIGHT and the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) are organizing a special session (event) to commemorate World Health Day on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the UNGCNI Office, Noida/U.P.

Background & Introduction

World Health Day, celebrated annually on April 7, serves as a global platform to promote awareness of health-related issues and mobilize collective action for sustainable health solutions. In 2025, the theme, “Collective Action for Better Health Across Society,” underscores the interconnectedness of health, sustainability, and community well-being. Addressing health challenges requires multi-stakeholder engagement, inclusive policies, and innovative approaches that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To commemorate this occasion, IEEE Delhi SIGHT and UNGCNI are organizing a special event to highlight the significance of SDGs in advancing public health. This initiative will bring together experts, volunteers, and community members to promote a holistic approach toward health and well-being.

Objectives

  1. To promote awareness and action on health-related UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  2. To facilitate discussions on health challenges and opportunities for achieving universal health coverage.
  3. To engage diverse stakeholders, including vulnerable community members, in dialogue and participatory learning.
  4. To foster a culture of health awareness through interactive sessions, discussions, and engagement activities.
  5. To recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers and participants in promoting community health.

  • Goal 3: Good Health & Well-being – Promoting healthy lives and well-being for all.
  • Goal 6: Clean Water & Sanitation – Ensuring access to clean drinking water and sanitation.
  • Goal 7: Affordable & Clean Energy – Enhancing access to sustainable energy for healthcare facilities.
  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities – Making urban areas resilient, inclusive, and health-friendly.
  • Goal 13: Climate Action – Addressing climate change and its impact on public health.
  • Universal Healthcare – Strengthening healthcare systems to ensure accessibility and equity.

Target Participants

The event will engage a diverse group of participants, ensuring an inclusive discussion on health and SDGs. These include:

  • Healthcare professionals, researchers, and policy experts.
  • Representatives from UN agencies, NGOs, and corporate organizations.
  • Community members from underprivileged backgrounds, including:
    • Domestic helpers and housemaids. (to be included in Phase 2 of the initiative).
    • Security guards. (to be included in Phase 2 of the initiative).
    • Women volunteers from slum clusters. (to be included in Phase 2 of the initiative).
    • Students (Classes X–XII).
    • Fruit & vegetable vendors (to be included in Phase 2 of the initiative).
  • Volunteers from IEEE Delhi SIGHT & UNGCNI.
